One of Our Own

Being a mother of a child who received a wig from Wigs for Kids I can tell you how much that experience meant to us. I am currently a photographer for Head and Shoulders and have been highly involved in our event with Wigs For Kids. When my child was given a chance to wear a ponytail to school we realized that it was something that we used to take for granted. Now that she has the option to decide whether she wants her hair to be down for the day or up gives her something that she can control in her life, even if it may seem small. Seeing the smile on her face when she asks her dad to braid her hair before school makes my whole day 100% better, and no one can say no to that smile. We would like to thank all of those that donated to Wigs for Kids and let you know that it does make a difference, even if it may seem like the smallest of a difference to that child it is huge. As a family member of someone who received a wig I can even tell you that the donations have made a difference in my life. Thank you again, we appreciate everyone who is participating in this event, even if you are not donating your hair, a lot are donating their time and we can not thank you enough! A special thank you to Head and Shoulders for being so understanding about our situation and really pushing for the collaboration with Wigs for Kids to help children across the nation. We couldn’t do it without you.

With love,

Kelsie Maker, A Mom
